Life's Little Lessons GREED

Life’s Little Lessons
GREED

I sit on my porch a lot in the morning hours and as the summer days are coming to an end the bees have really come out with a vengeance! It’s like a constant battle with the bees especially as I sit there trying to drink a soda. I’m swatting and batting, and no thank goodness I haven’t gotten stung yet but they are a nuisance.

Well today, I had to leave the house quickly to go meet a relative and go shopping. She has just moved to town and it’s so nice to have someone you’re related to so close. Well as I left the house I left my approximately 2/3 cup left of soda on the porch and just forgot all about it.

Well I had a great day and came back home before my son came home from school. I went outside to clean up the porch and there was the cup, full of bees, all dead. I don’t know why because nature is nature but the first thought that came to my mind was GREED. Those bees wanted the sweetness of my soda so badly that they finally got it and then drowned in it. You see, these bees weren't interested in me. They were interested in what I had. Funny.

Are we really interested in others...?... or just what they have? I question that because are we really more interested in the getting than the giving?? Usually Yup. I know I have many time stood guilty. Is it so important to covet a friendship, relationship, or things that are only fulfilling you just to eventually drown in it when you get it? GREED kills and it always will. It says in the Bible that it is better to give than to receive. God rewards giving far beyond what we can comprehend and sometimes even notice. Help me Lord to not be greedy and open my heart to be generous in a big and mighty way to be used of you.
